His Birthday

Why does it seem so much hard making a card for the guys in our life????  Probably because I am not a guy.. and I love the flowers and cute animals! But this card (out of a few different cards I made this morning) was his pick as his favorite and I wanted to create a card that a man would like.   This card was made with an We R Memory Keepers embossing folder called Gemstone and it comes with two folders.  I purchased these in a store but I did find it on Simon Says Stamps!  And if you have not used these… oh my goodness.  You will love them!!!  It amazes me the detail the paper has without being cut into.  After running the folder through my Big shot, I then started to brush the inks over the paper.  Now the this technique is sooo easy.  No blending tool is needed, unless you want a different effect.  I put the corner of the ink pad on one side as I skidded along the surface with the ink pad of my small Distress Ink, ink cubes.  Here are the following inks:

*Broken China *Shaded Lilac *Old Paper *Scattered Straw

*Spiced Marmalade*Spun Sugar

After that I lightly brushed the Distress ink pad of Weathered Wood over the entire embossed card stock to mute the the colors down a bit and tie in card I was mounting this to.  The look almost reminds me of broken stain glass.  You can use a rainbow of bright jewel tones or even a series of one color, like blues, greens or even grays!  To finish off the card I used a sentiment topper from Verity Rose that came out of a Crater’s Companion magazine and grounded the sentiment by placing a scrap black card stock behind it.  All paper was adhered with my ATG gun!

I definitely had both #sssmchallenge & #ssswchallenge and a friend who’s birthday coming up in mind when making this card!  His Birthday

A fun time in adding some personal creations to these two blogs and thank you for letting me share!

Any comments are welcomed!

Blessings, Anna
